With the arrival of the first cold and snow-covered winters, the desire for a white week in the Dolomites is born, be it in the sign of relaxation or in the sign of sport and adventure.
And the mountain offers a fairytale landscape, white and muffled, with the dormant nature but always bursting that cuddles with its beauty and its energy.
There are certainly many places where you can stay, among these there is the quieter Falcade, just a stone’s throw from the most famous and tourist centers such as Moena, Cortina d’Ampezzo and San Martino di Castrozza.

The ancient Falcade

The ancient Falcade, dating back approximately to the year one thousand, is a picturesque village immersed in the beautiful “Valle del Biois”, defined “the valley with the saints on the windows” for the various buildings decorated with religious images, at about 1100 meters high, embraced by the imposing “Monte Civetta”, and by the mountain groups of the “Marmolada” and the “Pale di San Martino”.
The vibrant beauty that in summer is manifested in the flowering pastures and in the woods, in the lakes and in the pastures, in winter it crystallizes, becoming perfect for a white week in the Dolomites, being part of the “Dolomiti Superski” ski area.
Falcade is a country that magnificently preserves the ancient traditions that find expression in the many barns and “tabiàs” (ancient shelters for animals) and in events such as the September festival “Desmontegada” (where the animals and their animals dressed up to party are the absolute protagonists) and in the “Christmas Market” that covers the town illuminated by the Christmas tree in the village square in a romantic atmosphere.
Also worth a visit is the “Augusto Murer Museum” from the name of the passionate artist whose wood and bronze sculptures adorn some of the Italian squares and not only.
Not to be missed for those staying in Falcade is the nearby planetary “Emigrants”: it is an astronomical observatory about 15 km from the village from which it is possible to admire the stars also thanks to the sliding roof and the telescope; the motion of more than 2,000 stars and various astronomical events are projected onto the dome.
